Characterization and determination of of Ni-P coating sputttering rate

Electroless nickel (EN) plating coating is deposited by catalytic reduction of nickel ions with sodium hydrophosphite on plain carbon steel. The Ni-P coating was characterized by optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and glow discharge optical emission spectrometry (GDOES). Hardness is determined on a Microhardness Tester using a 100 g load . The sputtering rate of investigated coating was also determined by GDOES.
