An Adaptive Method for Avoiding Overloading of Secondary Sources in Active Noise Control
In active noise control (ANC) systems, the direct application of the least-mean-squares (LMS) based algorithms sometimes leads to the problem of nonlinear distortion caused by overloading the secondary sources (including overloading of amplifiers and overloading of actuators). This problem was solved in the past by modifying the cost function to include constraints on control effort with application of leaky LMS algorithm. In this paper an alternative and more efficient adaptive compressing of output signal (ACOS) method was proposed, where output signal from signal processor is attenuated by an adaptive adjusted factor, and LMS weights updating is carried by a modified error signal.
