E-dom energetically and ecologically sustainable building of the future
The main objective of the E-dom project, which has basically been introduced by the pilot-project of the hotel building intended for congress tourism in the vicinity of the capital of Croatia, is to show the systematic application of new technologies in order to achieve full power independence and ecological sustainability of the project, as well as providing healthy living conditions in such environment, naturally, with minimum investment costs. To achieve these objectives, the use of natural building materials and renewable energy sources is central. Wood, straw and clay will form the building structure of E-dom, achieving the best thermal insulation possible. The thermal energy for space and domestic hot water heating will be provided from a geothermal heat pump and solar thermal collectors. To make E-dom fully energy independent in relation to electricity, solar photovoltaic collectors and hydrogen storage of electric power are planned. Finally, to ensure a high comfort of living, E-dom will have a controlled ventilation system and plants on so-called green walls. The latter will not only contribute to the aesthetic appearance but will improve the air quality through production of oxygen and absorption of air pollutants.
