Teacher Talk in Foreign Language Teaching
The book brings results from research into teacher talk in EFL clasrooms. The aim of the book is to present the key aspects of teacher talk and to identify approaches to an analysis of these aspects of teacher talk. The book is divided into three parts: The first part looks at the general nature of teacher talk: the quantity, structure and functional meaning of teacher utterances. The second part investigates interactional aspects of teacher talk: questioning and providing feedback on learner talk. The third part focuses on modifications in teacher talk: repetitions, paralinguistic modifications in the form of pauses and code-switching.
