Decision-Making Methodology Criteria with the Aim of Minimizing Unsalable Inventories

Optimization of inventory management in the automotive industry post sales with the need to implement continuous activities in order to minimize the unsalable inventories have become an important element of the market competitiveness. Globalization in the economic and market environment, strong competition, and high expectations of the users regarding the availability of vehicles and consumption of services in the post sales stipulate the need to use scientific achievements in the creation of sustainable development of the economic sector of the automotive industry. An important factor in the quality of post-sales service delivery in automotive industry is the concept of high-quality inventory management. In order to minimize the unsalable inventories it is necessary to use the methodology of multi-criteria decision-making with the basis of the problem being the necessity of knowing the basic parameters that affect the quantity of the overall inventories, their turnover, and the impact of interaction of the methodology elements on the variation of a single indicator. Using the decision-making methodology criteria, knowing their interdependence regarding the target quantity of minimizing the unsalable inventories and the reduction of the corporate costs, the logistics operators and the company management create the preconditions for successful operation. Paper contains continued research from the stock management domain. Using an example from practice the paper presents a decision-making methodology with the aim of minimizing the unsalable inventories in the post sales of the automotive industry. Prior conducted studyes are published in past years journals and proceedings (see list of literature).
