Annual health promotion summer course "Strategies for health in Europe"
The ETC-PHHP Network* (European Training Consortium in Public Health and Health Promotion), involving ten universities from different European countries, was founded in 1990. During the last eighteen years the ETC-PHHP in collaboration with EUMAHP (European Masters Programme in Health Promotion) has organized an annual training module focused on developing practical and theoretical tools to enhance health promotion strategies in Europe. The module which is held each July/August in different places, consists of eight learning weeks – the first six weeks is disseminated as a distance learning module (120 hours), followed by two-week intensive course with morning and afternoon sessions (80 hours). Methods include introductory presentations from the course team, self-study, group work, problem solving and other forms of peer-based learning. Expert briefings and field visits are included. Course working language is English.Lessons learned, challenges and impact of this unique Pan-european postgraduate module could be useful for all those who are running the international postgraduate programmes.
