DNA methylation status during mouse experimental teratocarcinoma development
The aim of this study was to determine DNA methylation pattern of genes involved in teratocarcinoma development: pluripotency and self-renewal genes Oct4, Sox2 and Nanog, as well as Brca1, Stat3, PRSS21 and SCGB3a1 genes in completely developed teratocarcinoma and embryo. We observed that DNA methylation of transcription factor and tumor-suppressor genes is not involved in embryonal cells transformation/progression of experimental teratocarcinoma, but core transcriptional regulatory circuitry genes seem to be crucial for teratocarcinoma development.
