Queuing Model of the Maintenance Process Case Study
Maintenance is a complex, resource intensive and costly part of the software life cycle. In order to evaluate and to improve the software maintenance process, an analytical model based on queuing theory has been constructed. The paper presents practical employment of the model for the assessment of the maintenance process performed in a large telecommunication company. Modeling principle, input data, assumptions and description of the analysis are given for one process submodel associated with the maintainer serving a request for the software modification at a certain process phase. Simulation model based on the probabilistic simulation and describing a dynamic behavior of a system is proposed.
