Gender differences in beliefs about driving skills for male and female drivers
The aim of this study was to examine the existence of gender differences in beliefs about male and female driving skills: perceptual motor skills and safety concerns. Participants were 443 graduate students, average age of 33. Contrary to our expectations, overall results on the driver skill inventory showed women to be better drivers. There was an evident difference between the sexes: female participants consider women to be better drivers, and male participants consider men to be better drivers. Men are perceived to be better in perceptual motor skills, while women are perceived to be better in safety concerns.
