Metacognitive learning strategies and students' learning preferences
This graduation paper deals with learning strategies, their definition and classification, where special emphasis is put on metacognition and learning strategies instruction. Namely, successful language learners use learning strategies to achieve their goals. Therefore, the intervention of the teacher could help less able students profit from those strategies, whereas more able students could refine their learning strategies to become as efficient as possible. The practical part of this thesis presents the analysis of a questionnaire for students, which includes some elements of the Croatian version of the European Language Portfolio and its part ´How do I learn´, which helps learners think about how they learn languages. Identifying students' learning styles could help them to choose the most suitable ways to make their learning more efficient.
