Imidazolium and quinuclidinium compounds as antidotes in soman poisoning

Series of imidazolium, quinuclidinium and pyridinium derivatives with different chains between rings and different substituents on the rings were tested in vitro on soman inhibited acetycholinesterase (AChE)of human erythrocytes and in vivo using soman poisoned mice. Pyridinium-quinuclidinium derivatives with oxime group at the position 2 of pyridinium ring. The tested compound are protective agents against soman intoxication in vivo, but their in vitro activity against soman inhibition of ADhE are negligible. The best effects in vivo were obtained by use of compounds containing quinuclidinium ring with carbamoyl group as substituents. The in vivo activity of the tested compounds should be attrributed to mechanisms still not well defined. All tested compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and proton NMR-spectroscopy.
