Prevalence of dental anomalies in Istrian children
The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of genetic abnormalities of teeth and their correlation on the sample of children from Istria. 2000 orthopantomographic radiographs, in the stage of mixed dentition, have been analised. Anomalies were found in 458 (23, 8%) children, incidence varied from 1 to 14, with majority of children being affected by two anomalies. There was no significant difference between girls and boys according the number of anomalies found. Maxilla was affected more often. Most frequently affected teeth were bicuspids in both maxilla and mandible, and maxillary lateral incisors.
