Vrlina, ljepota, sreća - metodički prikaz nastave, filzofsko- pedagoška radionica / Čakovec, 1. prosinca 2008
The members of Project Stohrenschule, part of the research project "Platonism and Forms of Intelligence, " conduct original activities and workshops for children and adults concerning topics like beauty, virtue and happiness, friendship and justice, identity, individuality and community, knowledge, emotions and reality. In our workshop in Čakovec, we presented the project to high school teachers and demonstrated some possible applications of principles and methods of philosophizing with children in school instruction involving high school students. A model is used to describe the activities, including practical guidelines, a short statement of aim and content, summary of materials, time frame, and a guide for getting started. Each activity, however, is 'open-ended', i.e. the main ingredient is the unknown - whatever might occur once the ball is set in motion. The search and the adventure of discovery is thus shared: by posing questions of importance in a manner that is interesting and engaging, we are addressing those questions as much to ourselves as to students - daring to be honest, and to confront our unquestioned assumptions. The activities are adaptable to a wide variety of needs: improving self-image and interpersonal relationships, education for participatory democracy, human rights, social justice ; for tolerance, peaceful conflict resolution and intercultural understanding ; for ecoliteracy and sustainability.
