Status and procedures of Croatian wind market, legal framework and permitting procedures
Along with the changes in the global energy market, Croatia has recently decided to build a legal framework support for the renewable energy sources. Importance of this decision is very significant for developers and investors. Incentive for the RES market has now enabled development of number of projects in wind power utilization. The expected result is optimal exploitation of natural resources and reaching a goal of 5.8% of energy coming form RES by 2010. Croatia is one of the countries with long coastal line and excellent wind potential along. Up to now there are 18.2 MW of wind power installed. There is ongoing installation of another 51.2 MW in progress that will increase total power installed up to 70.1 MW. New legal framework proved to be a good attractive and inviting for many interested foreign investors. Due to the global trends and energy crisis domestic companies included in energy market like HEP, Dalekovod, Končar and others also took a direction towards wind energy exploitation.
