ATM Protocols Implementation and Evaluation Using xGlobe Simulator

This paper presents an ATM network simulator xGlobe. xGlobe is based on the xKernel/xSim simulator developed at the University of Arizona. The architecture of the simulator provides a framework for implementing and evaluating protocols. The simulator does not use any abstractions, approximations or modeling but instead provides an environment for execution of a real networking code. In addition to making the simulation results as accurate as possible, that also makes it possible to use networking code from various operating systems in the simulator. A simple ATM network example demonstrates use of the simulator. An explanation of simulation results is also provided.
