Susceptibility of some less sensitive apple cultivars to fire blight in artificial flower infection
Fire blight caused by Erwinia amylovora occurred in Croatia in 1995. Chemical control measures are not completely effective and planting of transgenic apples are not allowed in Croatia. Growing of apple cultivars with high fruit quality resistant to fire blight is one of the most acceptable control measures. After artificial infection during flowering period ten apple cultivars showed high level of resistance to fire blight. They were: Arkansas Black, Cooper 7A, Cooper 7SB2, Enterprise, Liberty, Nova Easygro, Realka, Rewena, Spartan and Topred Del.
