Manifestations of lupus erythematosus on the face and scalp
Lupus erythematosus is chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease with various cutaneous and systemic manifestations. Very often first cutanous manifestations appear on the face and scalp. These manifestations can be from discoid erythematous infiltrated lesions, over erythematous butterfly lesion on the face typical for systemic disease, up to difiguring lesions of lupus profundul. On the scalp most often manifestations of lupus erythematosus are cicatricial alopecia as a symptom of chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus and effluvium typical for systemic disease. Each of these patients need individual therapeutic approach, and answer to therapy differs from patient to patient. Special attention should be given to patients with coexistence of other disease in patients with lupus erythematous in which therapy of one disease worsend current status of other one.
