Forensic odontology during and after Homeland war in the Republic of Croatia
This paper will present the results and methods of dental identification of 1,000 bodies exhumed from mass graves until July 1998; 768 males (76.8%) and 232 females (23.2%). A total of 824 victims (82.4%) were positively identified, while 176 (17.6%) victims remained unidentified. Dental identification based on available dental antemortem data was achived in 25% cases. Dental identification based on dental charts was achived in 35%, x-rays in 15%, photographs in 22%, intervievs in 18%, and dental suports in 10% of the cases.
