The childrens responses to war and exile in Croatia
In this study of the psychosocial reactions to war we used semistuctured interview with parents of 252 children displaced from their homes in the first days of war in Croatia. As consequences of traumatic life threatening events the most common reactions found were fears and intensified separation anxiety even in children who had not been separated from their mothers, food refusal and nightmares. Longing for home was noticed in drawings of all age groups of the examined children
