Pyridoxal thiosemicarbazonato complexes of molybdenum(V)
The coordination chemistry of molybdenum has attracted appreciable attention due to its presence in certain enzymes. Its biochemical role is based on the abbility to form stable complexes with the ONS ligands [1, 2]. Pyridoxal thiosemicarbazone ligands are of a great interest because of their antiviral, antitumor and antibacterial properties [3, 4]. In this paper we report molybdenum(V) complexes coordinated by tridentate thiosemicarbazonato ligands derived from pyridoxal (H2L1- pyridoxal thiosemicarbazone ligand, H2L2 - pyridoxal 4-methylthiosemicarbazone ligand, H2L3 - pyridoxal 4-phenylthiosemicarbazone ligand). All complexes were prepared by the reactions of (NH4)2[MoOCl5] and appropriate ligand in dry acetornitrile or in dry ethanol under nitrogen atmosphere. In all complexes the ligands are coordinated to molybdenum as the ONS donors through phenolic oxygen, imine nitrogen and thiol sulphur.
