Dietary intake of folate and folic acid of childbearing age women in geographically different regions and different seasons
In order to get better insight in nutrition among our women of childbearing age, a survey has been conducted about intake of folates and folic acid through food. The survey covered 600 women in three geographically different regions: Zagreb, Rijeka and Osijek. The main objective was to find out whether there are regional differences in the intake of folates and folic acid as well as whether there are any differences regarding the summer/autumn and winter/spring seasons Differences in the intake of folates and folic acid in the whole day meal in the regions that were covered by the survey were not statistically significant, which indicates that their nutritional habits, related to the consumption of foods rich in folates and folic acid, are similar, regardless of the region and season.
