The role of cytology in the diagnosis of Endemic Nephropathy
The second morning urine was collected from EN patients treated at hospital (selective samples)and from healthy subject older than 25 yaers (non-selective samples). Samples were limited to pathients with 10ugDNA or more in their urine sedimnet. Two samples from each patient were prepared in a cytocentrofuge at 2000 rpm for 5 min. The samples were air- dried and stained according to Papenheim (May-Grunwald-Giemsa). We conclude that the quantity of DNA in urine sediment depends upon the number of cells but the quality depends on the type of cells.
