Strengthening Social Dialogue in the Process of Structural Adjustment and Private Sector Participation in Ports in Croatia
Constant and coherent social dialogue is recognized as the vital instrument through which the harmonisation of public interests of port industry development in the Republic of Croatia, with the particular interests of workers/Unions and employers, can be assured. The development of maritime transport, port sector and port industry directly intitiated the need to consider the social dialogue in the port sector. This Project has derived from the awareness of the importance to promote the development of social dialogue with the aim to create the understanding of the role of different social partners in the port industry in the framework of the Croatian and EU legal and social background, both in the areas of employment and social policy. In that context, the Project has incorporated the wide research using analysis and synthesis methods, induction and deduction as well as the comparative methods. The results of this reaserch has initiated the need for futher development of social dialogue with the aim to ensure the satisfaction and security for a large number of employees in the port industry in Croatia, emphasizing the areas of the required activities. This is of particular importance both in the process of the accession of Croatia to the EU and for practical implementation purposes.
