Kvaliteta glasa pri otrocih s polževim vsadkom
Inappropriate pitch, unbalanced loudness and intensified nasality are very often characteristics of voice in children with hearing impairments. The goal of this research was to examine and analyze the values of formants in pronunciation of vowel “ A” in preschool children with cochlear implant. Research methods: 21 preschool children with cochlear implants enrolled in complex hearing and speech rehabilitation program in SUVAG Polyclinic - Zagreb have been included in the research. After cochlear implantation and according to duration of rehabilitation children have been divided into three groups. The pronunciation of vowel “ A” has been analyzed (Multi-Dimensional Voice Program, Kay Elemetrics Corp ; USA) recorded by microphones with oral and nasal characteristics. Results: the frequency values for the first, second and third formant have been observed in relation to duration of rehabilitation and compared to the frequency values of formants of normal hearing children. The changes have been determined by statistical indicators and univariant and multivariant testing of differences. Results show that the values for formants increase with the duration of rehabilitation and come close to those of normal hearing children. Conclusion: Results of analysis show that the values of observed parameters of voice have been changed due to rehabilitation and in the sense of positive voice quality.
