Ecological Finishing of Woolen Fabric with Extracts of Marigold, St.-John’ s- Wart and Hibiscus Plants
Recently there is interest in dyeing and finishing of textile with natural substance, based on their high compatibility with the environment, their lower toxicity and allergic reactions. A method for ecological finishing of woolen fabrics with water extracts of plants as marigold, St.-John’ s- wart and hibiscus was investigated. The herbal extracts have contained different active matters and can be a good basis for commercial finishing of wool used for clothing and carpets. Fabric finishing with herbal extracts also shows very good fastness of antimicrobial and dyeing properties. From the environmental point of view it is a good substitution of chemical dyes with “ natural products” , providing not only a strategy for reducing risks and pollutants but also an opportunity for new markets and new businesses that could be developed implementing environment to market policy.
