Raman spectra and elastic properties of diamond nanowires

Molecular wire is an ultimate molecular electronic device and as such has been attracting considerable attention1. Recently a theoretical study has shown2 an unusually high conductivity of polyyne-based molecular wire when anchored on the Au(111) surface. Even the currents through an alkyl chain which resembles the diamond wires were measured3. We undertook a theoretical study of vibrational and mechanical properties of quasi one-dimensional molecular wires built of the sp3-hybridized carbon atoms4.
