Effect of Bio-Mos* on performance and health of juvenile carp
The objective of this trial was to evaluate the effect of Bio-Mos* on performance and health of juvenile carp. The trial was set up as a complete randomized design with three replicates per treatment and 50 fish per replicate. The diets were based on fish neal, meat meal, soya, wheat and corn and contained the following specifications: DM, 89.60% ; CP, 39.91% ; fat, 4.51% ; fiber, 4.21% and ash, 10.96%. Fish had an average weight of 5.28g at the beginning of the trial. Treatments were as follows: control and 6000 ppm Bio-Mos*. Performance and mortality data were recorded and analyzed by ANOVA. The dietary addtion of Bio-Mos* led to a significant improvement in weight gain and FCR (Table 1). Mortality was drastically reduced with Bio-Mos* treatment. Causes of mortality were not analyzed in detail. Bio-Mos* added at 6000 ppm significantly reduced mortality and improved performance of juvenile carp reared in tanks.
