Automated EMG silent period latency and duration measurement in dentistry
Electromyography is used in dentistry to assess the relationship between the activity in craniomandibular muscles, facial morphology and occlusal stability. Gnathosonics (recording of occlusal sounds) was introduced primarily for the analysis of occlusal stability but it is used for EMG analysis in terms of onset and duration measurements of silent period. In this study, the results of silent period latency (SPL) and duration (SPD) estimation by an automated algorithm are compared to expert measurements on the same data.
