Multisegmented Capacitive Transducer for Force Measurement in the Legs
This capacitive transducer is developed for force measurement in the legs. For this purpose transducer has to be flat, fixed under the shoes on the sole, with a linear force to voltage characteristic. Because the stress on the metatarsal part of the foot is not distributed uniformly particularly during the walk, the capacitive sensor is divided in four segments. Two segments from inner side and two segments from the outer side on the metatarsal part are connected together, so that the partial force from each side or their sum can be monitored. An analysis of this new transducer is given. The whole transducer including bridge, AC source, amplifier and demodulator are described with obtained measured data. This transducer fulfil all requirements for force measurement in gait analysis.
