Significance of colposcopy in HPV genital disorder
Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer in women worldwide with about half million new cases every year, of which 85% occurring in developed countries where women do not have access to screening. Although cervical cancer is easily treated if detected in early stages, half of the women with cancer are still dying of this preventable disease. In Croatia, every year about 300 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer, of which more than 100 die. This unfortunate situation incite new generation of Croatian gynecologists, gyneco-cytologists and pathologist to point out the utility of the complementary procedures in diagnosis of cervical precancer and cancer, with colposcopy having a key role.
