Crystal and molecular structure of novel ferrocene bioconjugate with potential antimicrobial activity
Textile materials provide basic requirements for bacterial growth and multiplication. Hospital materials are especially known to be major sources of cross-infection, and therefore, the hospital textiles that have potential biocidal properties would help reduce an important source of microorganisms involved in infections. One of the classes of antimicrobial agents for textiles constitutes organometallic compounds. The novel ferrocene bioconjugate with potential antimicrobial activity was prepared and its crystal structure has been determined by X-ray structure analysis. The compound crystallized in monoclinic space group P 2_1/c. The conformation of the cyclopentadienyl rings is almost halfway between eclipsed and staggered, as the C1– Cg1– Cg2– C9 torsion angle is 159.71(13)^o. The rings are nearly parallel, with the corresponding dihedral angle of 2.68(10)^o. The C11=O1 and C17=O5 carbonyl groups are slightly twisted out from the plane of the Cp rings to which they are attached [dihedral angles are 9.01(12)^o and 4.22(12)^o, respectively]. The N– H… O and C– H… O hydrogen bonds and weak aromatic Pi… Pi interactions link the molecules into two-dimensional framework.
