Earthquaque prediction by mercury measurement in air
Based on our field research, findings and experience from the detailed mercury survey through entire territory of Croatia conducted in 1996, the correlation between elevated concentrations of mercury in air and the Dinaride Earthquake prediction was suggested. Mercury measurements were performed several hours before the new series of earthquakes in that time very active seismic Dinaride areas while significant and very intense oscillations warned of the possibility of the existence of correlations between high mercury concentration in the air and earthquakes. Authors propose the concept development and need for further research based on setting up of measurement sites on the significant geological field location in combination with remote sensing and suitable satellite measurements. These improvements are expected to have implication on the Earthquaque prediction reliability and efficient applications in health, safety and the environment risk reduction.
