SERVICE LIFE ESTIMATION OF CONCRETE STRUCTURE EXPOSED TO AGRESSIVE ENVIRONMENTAL LOADS
In this paper service life estimation of existing concrete structure exposed to aggressive environmental loads is performed. Analyzed concrete structure is a viaduct located about 1, 5 km from the sea, which will be exposed to the direct influence of chlorides (with wind and sea effect) during the whole service life. In one of the spans of the prestressed concrete viaduct the concrete of significantly lower compressive strength than designed was found during the quality control procedure. After assessment of concrete structure and evaluation of material properties, service life estimation was performed in order to evaluate the effect of lower quality of concrete on the service life of the structure. Service life estimation was performed with the use of deterministic durability models taking into account the effect of sea water and wind, as loads and concrete properties (chloride diffusion coefficient and gas permeability), as resistance.
