The Violent Death of the Spalatin Archbishop Arnir (1180)
In the presentation the authors examined the political and ecclesiastical situation in Split and in Croatian hinterland in the end of the twelfth century during the period when St. Arnir obtained the function of the archbishop of Split. By analysing of archival material (Thomas Archdeacon, Vita sancti Rainerii, diplomatic sources, Daniel Farlati, and so on) the authors attempted to point out the reasons which have lead to the violent death of St. Arnir who was stoned by the members of the Croatian kindred of Kačići and their followers.
