Using "Slanted" Weell for Infill Drilling Plan: Oilfield Kozarica
Production problems on teh oil field Kozarica are caused by combination of relatively heavy oil and the nature of reservoit itself. Lithology of the reservoir is presented by shales with the alternations of very unconsolidated to poor consolidated sandstones. Water injections to accomplish ultimate recovery increase, didn't result as was expected. On the contrary, it caused quick water breakthrough into production wells, so they were closed. In order to increase production and ultimate recovery on this particular oilfield, it was decided to drill new wells to reach bypassed oil. Further analysis led to conclusion that few slanted well in the zones that that are not drainaged would intensify hydrocarbon production and and finally increase ultimate recovery. Reservoir simulation of new infill well is used to estimate production and recovery, for several different scenarios, due to evaluate the effects on recovery of altered operating conditions and to compare economics of different recovery methods.
