Interest for new olive-groves establishing has been present during few past years in Croatia. Besides planting new olive orchards, old and by fire damaged ones have been renewed using modern agritechnical methods. New oil mills have been built and the quality of olive oil has been improved. The Government of Republic of Croatia has issued ‘ Decision of Concession Conducting on the Forest Land’ for the purpose of orchards, vineyards and olive groves establishing. In the period 2004 – 2007, land of 5.200 ha was selected for olive growing. Regardless that forest land is mostly rocky and with low fertility, some farmers decided to take concession for 50 years since they have small and dislocated farms. Future producers and those who create agricultural politics need relevant information on technological specifics and economic profitability of olive groves establishment on those soils in Mediterranean area. The aim of the study was technological and economic analysis of investment in olive groves establishment on rocky land with the goal to economic profitability investing in olive groves under economic conditions of Republic of Croatia.
