Sažetak
In their daily work, tourist operators encounter a number of problems which could be solved more easily by using adequate quantitative models. One of those tasks is organization of day trips and visits to cultural, historical or natural attractions, as well as entertainment sites, for tourists during their holidays. This not only increases the income of all the companies involved in providing those services, but also has positive effects on tourist perceptions. Taking into account the limited time, in trip planning it is necessary to establish the optimum sequence of points of visits. This paper proposes using a computer-aided travelling salesman model for that purpose. Its initial form, which has a deterministic character, is improved by defining the duration of transport between each visiting site and the time required for sightseeing as random variables. Accordingly, the solving procedure envisages a simulation of these times. In this way, the model acquires stochastic features. Because of this, it is ultimately necessary to determine the confidence interval for the mean of total trip duration. Obviously, it would be inconceivable to implement the proposed model without using modern information technologies. Therefore, each phase of the model construction and solution is computer assisted.
