Role of terminal NT-proBNP among septic patients
Terminal NT-proBNP Brain natriuretic peptide is useful cardiac marker in evaluating heart failure as BNP, but its role in evaluating patients with sepsis is not clear. Plasma NT-proBNP measurements were sarried out in ten consecutive patients with sepsis within 6 hours of administration to the intensive care unit.No one had a history of established cardiac failure. The outcome was determined as survivors and non-survivors. The diagnosis of the infection was based on clinical and laboratory data as infected and non-infected group. The origin of depsis were lungs and urinary tract.
