Sažetak
Dieting, the special regime of eating, can improve health but can also lead to very dangerous eating disorders. Higher risk of eating disorder development is in young women and athletes, comparing with other parts of population (Ambrosi-Randić, 2004 ; Halgin and Krauss Whitbourne, 1994). It is considered that particularly endangered are those engaged in activities in which aesthetic appearance is important (Plaisted, 1995). It could be supposed that more positive attitudes toward dieting could be found also in persons which occupation includes improving aesthetic appearance in others. In this research 327 nature science high school female students aged 17 to 20 years were given General attitude toward dieting scale (Bosnar and Ambrosi-Randić, 2004.). They attended five different high school vocational programs, preparing students to be cosmeticians (n=116), and ecology technicians, geology technicians, chemical laboratory assistants and chemical industrial technicians (211). The analysis of variance show no statistically significant difference in attitude intensity of aesthetic oriented cosmeticians and other vocational programs group. It is possible to conclude that young girls have similar attitudes toward dieting, no matter which occupation they have chosen. The question arises, is this result gender and age specific.
