Analytical performance of Accu Chek Compact Plus blood glucometer
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the analytical performance characteristics of the Accu Chek Compact Plus blood glucometer by comparing its accuracy and precision with our current laboratory reference analytical system – Olympus 2700 automatic analyser. Materials and methods: Original Olympus glucose reagent served as a reference method. The difference between glucose concentrations measured on reference and Accu Chek analytical platform was tested by paired t-test. Glucometer accuracy was evaluated using bias (%), Passing-Bablock regression, Bland-Altman and Error Grid Clark analysis. Intra-assay glucometer precision was examined by 10 consecutive measurements at two commercially available control samples and one random patient sample. Results: The average Accu Chek bias was -6.6% ; we found no significant deviation from linearity ; more than 95% of our values were between mean± ; ; 1.96 SD. The results of the Clarke Error Grid analysis were 100% in zone A. Conclusion: Accu Chek Compact Plus blood glucometer has satisfying accuracy and acceptable precision and may, therefore, be used interchangeably with our laboratory referent-system for glucose measurement.
