Determining Overvoltage Protection Of An Hydro Power Plant
The overvoltage protection of the equipment operating on the generator voltage level (16 kV) in the hydro power plant Zakučac is studied with the help of computer simulations. The aim of the papers is to present some points in the selection of the overvoltage protection. The complex computational model of the power plant is developed. Transferred overvoltages from the higher voltage side are computed with ATP and Microtran programs. High values of lightning overvoltages particularly from the 220 kV voltage level are trensferred on the transformer secondary which should be protected with the surge arresters. Generators are not threatened with high overvoltages due to the high value of their capacitances.
