KOGEN - National Energy Programs of Cogeneration - Preliminary Results and Expectations
Following recent trends in energy management, the National Energy Program KOGEN (Program of Cogeneration) was initiated by the Government of Republic of Croatia. It was started in order to establish an organised system of care for the energy sector, development of cogeneration plants, environment protection, and increase in energy efficiency, as well as for the purposes of engaging expert assistance on various tasks in the framework of cogeneration. In the present paper, an overview of the KOGEN Program has been given, as well as preliminary results of the program. Principles and advantages of cogeneration have been described, along with an account of the circumstances of cogeneration in Croatia, expectations of future actions and development. Preliminary analyses of the energy potential for cogeneration in Croatia, as well as a forecast of energy produced in Cogeneration units until 2025 are also shown.
