Sažetak
Economically exploitable wind energy potentials on the coast and the islands of Croatia are estimated by means of the CRO-EOL expert system. The methodology of the expert system allows for the selection of the optimal wind turbine (WTG) locations and the optimal commercially available wind turbins as well. WTG electric energy production is predicted on the selected locations for the selected WTG. The simulation of WTG operation is based on the long term wind data provided by the Croatian National Hydrometeorologicl Service (NHMS). Input data from the anemometric stations were processed in NHMS in 1997 by applying WASP programme. 29 selected macrolocations meet the basic criterion of minimum 5.5 m/s annual average wind speed at 25 m a.g.l.. The electric energy production on these locations is predicted for WTG of various sizes, i.e. unit power outputs (250, 500, 750 kW).
