An Experimental And Computer Study Of The Influence Of Deformation Conditions On Microalloyed Strip Steel Microstructure Evolution

The evolution of microstructure of microalloyed steel under different thermo-mechanical conditions is under consideration. The analysis of the influence of deformation history on microstructure development of the material has been provided. The flat rolling deformation conditions were simulated by plane strain compression test (PSCT) on fully integrated close-loop mechanical testing system GLEEBLE 3800 in IMZ Gliwice. The plane strain compression test is accepted as a most convenient for sheet rolling studies, since the deformation mode is very similar to that of rolling, allowing the determination of the flow stress and microstructure evolution data. For the given samples geometry, the significant irregularity of mechanical conditions in deformation zone have been detected. The inhomogeneous character of deformation conditions within the specimen complicates processing and interpretation of the results. On the other hand, such inhomogeneity allows observe the influence of deformation conditions on microstructure development. To analyse the local strain and strain rate distribution futures and its influence on flow stress level and microstructure development, the finite element simulation of the process has been made. Local deformation conditions obtained by mathematical simulation were associated with the results of metallographic analysis. The dependences of average grain diameter on deformation history and time of annealing has been obtained.
