The Use of Water Based Cutting Fluids in Machining of Magnesium Alloy
When magnesim comes in contact with water hydrogen gas will be developed which is flammable and explosive in mixture eith air. For that reason the water based cutting fluids are not recommended in machining of magnesium alloys. This investigation show that only small quantities of hydrogen are generated in the cutting process and that hydrogen can be easily removed from the machine tool and actual surroundings.
