Optical CATV

In today"s transport network the transmission of video signals of various capacities is performed mostly on a digital and synchronous basis. This transport network has been changing from a rigid transmission structure into a flexible and reliable infrastructure with add/drop multiplexers (ADM), and cross-connects (CCs) being placed in Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) rings. Development of network infrastructure for incorporating video services will be given as well as measurement methods for evaluating bandwidth higher then 10 Gb/s in single-mode fibers. Modulation techniques for optical CATV transmission have been raised from analog to digital which is more suitable for fiber-optics. A new approach to modulation for optical channels will be presented.
