Journalism of Attachment : Did ITN lie? How the Media Created the Outcome of the War in Bosnia
War in Bosnia got the world’ s attention after famous picture of emaciated Fikret Alić behind barbed wire shown at ITN news. It was a connection with the World War II and Nazi concentration camps and all world’ s media picked up a story on a new World War II torture techniques. What actually happened is that the journalists who made a story stood behind the barbed wire whilst the prisoners were on open. Many thus questioned war in Bosnia in terms of journalism of attachment. Some authors went forward to call the war in Bosnia as a "media driven disaster" where media created a story which did not exist at a time. This paper therefore examines practices of war reporting and the journalism of attachment as a phenomena.
