Transport Optimization Model on Corridor Vc
Motorway construction is of crucial importance to the overall development of the area oriented towards the road in question. Faster communication provided by the road Corridor Vc will have a significant impact on the operation of numerous companies dealing in transport and trade of goods, especially if it is long-distance transport. However, shorter-distance transport on the Corridor Vc could prove to be uneconomical. Companies that transport goods within a region should therefore aim to optimize that process. This implies shortening the transport time, increasing safety, and having adequate satisfaction in using state-of-the-art traffic infrastructure, but it also requires lower transport costs. All these elements need to be taken into account when choosing the road for particular transport. The research presented here aims to define the factors influencing the choice of road, and to formulate a model, based on certain elements of linear programming, multiple objective optimization and goal programming, which would optimize the transport process. Implementation of this model will result in an adequate choice between alternatives of faster, safer, but also more expensive motorway transport on one hand, and slower, but lower-cost transport by existing road network on the other. Another possibility is to combine optimally these two options. In this way the model will also indicate the competitive advantages of using the Corridor Vc.
