Efficiency Assessment Model of ICT Implementation in Banking Operations as an Element of Decision Support System

Within a relatively short time the development of information and communication technologies has had a considerable impact on banking operations. Applying state-of-the-art facilities has enabled banks to improve their efficiency, and to offer their clients new services. In order to maintain and increase their competitiveness, the banks are forced to keep up with technological advancements, investing substantial financial resources into upgrading their operations. To ensure profitability, it is important for bank management to evaluate properly different effects of implementing information and communication technologies. Within the decision support system it is therefore necessary to design an adequate model that can help determine the effects of each form of investment. An important step in constructing such a model is to identify independent and dependent variables. After determining interdependence forms and formulating the initial model, regression analysis should be used to assess and test the significance of structural parameters. An adequate database needs to be created to provide the data required for such an analysis. A reduced form of the model is established on the basis of obtained results, and its usage-value is verified.
