Reward Strategies of Croatian Enterprises: an Empirical Study
Reward strategy expresses the longer term direction for reward policies, practices and processes. The aim of reward strategy is to influence achieving business goals and meeting the needs of stakeholders. In this paper we explore the development of reward strategies in Croatian enterprises and the influence of reward strategy to enterprise’ s competitiveness. More than 85% of explored enterprises have formal or partially developed reward strategy. Only 6% of examined Croatian enterprises did not implement variable pay. Croatian enterprises in most cases (47, 5%) find reward system of slight influence to firm competitiveness. However, we show that competitive advantage of Croatian enterprises is statistically significantly related to the existence of reward strategy, but not related to the existence of variable pay.
